UiWE has produced 6 films on the artwork ”LIGHT – Landscape and voices (LYS – Landskab og stemmer) created by artist Elle-Mie Ejdrup Hansen and composer Marie Højlund [Marybell Catastrophy]. Check out a unique blend of light art, composition and poetry – and some very characteristic Danish landscapes.

Urban movement

A film about street life, security and urban development in Amager Vest, Copenhagen. The film shows the attempts to foster positive urban life through street sports activitets such as football and parkour.

UiWE produced the movie “Urban life on the move” (Byliv i Bevægelse) for Amager West Local Committee as part of the “Safe city” initiative by the City of Copenhagen. On the agenda is the significance of street sports and urban play in supporting public life and enhance the feeling of security in urban neighbourhoods.

UiWE wears two hats at DAC

October 28, the exhibition “The art of making a city – the development of Køge Kyst” opens at DAC. UiWE is both on display as co-producers of a master plan (as part of a team headed by Carl Bro) – and has edited some of the exhibition films together with film producer Nanna Nielsen. Come and see!

Dreams of Amager Vest

UiWE made a film about the NYP (Netværk for yngre planlæggere/ Network for Young Planners) Wintercamp held by Amager Vest Lokaludvalg at ITU in January. The 14-minute film documents the process as well as the ideas proposed to develop the diverse area of Amager Vest. Showing cases, discussions, workflow and presentations, the film gives an impression of the NYP cross-disciplinary approach to planning.

Battle of Rabbit Town screenings

The UiWE documentary about two favela leaders in Brazil in a tough, corrupt election, is screened at Doc Lounge CPH at Husets Café, i Huset March 10th at 8 PM, doors open at 7. An informal Q&A with Christian, Brazilian Music, Capueira, beers and drinks, follow the screening. Battle of Rabbit Town is also shown in Prague, March 10-17, as part of the official selection of One World International Human Rights Film Festival and Christian is going there to present the film.

This autumn we produced 11 short films capturing the events of LYSLYD– a regional project revolving around the development of urban culture, business & innovation in the Copenhagen region. The result is 11 stories from today’s urban and suburban Denmark mirrored in the projects of Danish and international artists.

”Herlev i Farver” and ”Herlev’s Stemmer” (”Herlev in Colour” / ”The Voices of Herlev”) is a film about two audio walks by Claus Handberg taking place in Herlev DK.

Battle of Rabbit Town

Battle of Rabbit Town offers a rarely seen look into the corruption and dedication of the political back alleys of Brazil, following two rivalling community leaders in a favela in Recife, North Brazil, during a tough election for city government.

The documentary raises fundamental questions about a democracy, torn between ideals and reality. Battle of Rabbit Town premiered at Copenhagen Dox 2008. Read more at  www.battleofrabbittown.com
