UiWE is co-organizing a course in user-oriented innovation for libraries in Region Sjælland along with Changedesign, Gesamtkunstwerk and Agnethe Kirstine Green. On the agenda is guiding library managers and workers to involve users in efficient and productive ways. The ambition is to create truly inspiring libraries through understanding and collaborating with the library users.

The Danish cross-ministerial innovation unit Mindlab hosts the international seminar “How Public Design” Sept. 1 & 2. On the agenda i how design and creative thinking can help adress the great challenges facing public sector management in smarter ways. We were happy to be part of the talks and highly recommend you to check out Mindlabs great work with public sector innovation.

Hong Kong Carlsberg

UiWE introduced grad students from the School of Architecture at the Chinese University of Hong Kong to planning and architecture in Copenhagen and Carlsberg. Applying temporary, social and cultural initiatives were on the agenda. It was a lively day at Carlsberg, and the students seemed to appreciate our cultural planning approach and our rope-work at Carlsberg.

Design better competitions

May 23 at Danish Architecture Centre (DAC), Christian is giving a talk on the design of architecture competitions together with Thomas Koch from Polyform at a workshop organized by The Danish Association of Construction Clients (DACC). On the agenda is how to make architectural design competitions more inspiring, efficient and productive. The outset is the UiWE/Polyform manifesto on architecture competitions published in Arkitekten this spring.

UiWE speaks at MindLab

The French social innovation agency La 27e Region hosts a study to the Øresund Region for a range of regional decision makers in France. As part of the programme Uffe Elbæk and UiWE have been asked to give a presentation at Mindlab of the idea of a Social Innovation Lab in Copenhagen committed to develop new, cross disciplinary solutions to today’s (and tomorrow’s) social challenges.

Both Christian and Jacob will work as external examiners this summer. Christian is part of the examination team at Copenhagen School of Design and Technology (KEA) at the BA programme “Ideation Design”. Jacob is affiliated with the department of Architecture & Design at the University of Aalborg.

May 18 Christian gives a talk at an idea-generating seminar on the development of Bispeengbuen. On the agenda is how creative businesses can contribute to the urban development process. The municipality of Frederiksberg hosts the seminar.
