Christian was part of the BIG team (Bjarke Ingels Group) winning the competition for the maritime museum in Elsinore – a 15.000 m2 museum placed around an existing dock facing the famous castle of Kronborg.

When designing new school the surrounding landscape has enormous potential as learning space. Jacob developed a cataloque of solutions to apply to school landscapes to upgrade cross disciplinary learning.

Culture Yard, Elsingor
Concept, development, communication and process
Helsingor Kommune / 2003-2007

Christian coordinated the development process of the new cultural centre, Kulturværftet (the Culture Yard) from idea to architectural project, including the design and facalitation of a process involving citizens and future users of the place (with Kollision). The 10.000 m2 cultural centre includes a new library and a 500 person multifunctional eventspace. Expected to be finished in 2011.

Jacob developed the concept for a future physical landmark for the islandic bank Landsbanki. The project approached the landmark as a social, open og collaborative statement “a city” instead of a traditional closed and corporate one. During the project islandic economy was hit hard by the crisis and the project was dropped. Today we see banks all over the world working towards a more open brand.

Concept, communication and conceptural design
IMR / 2006

Jacob worked along IMR to develop an exhibition space adressing the complex subjects of human rights. The result was an exhibition concept and an user test workshop – engaging design students, and school classes in testing and further developing the concept. The workshop process was held at the Zentropa Interaction facilities in “filmbyen” (now Workz).

albertslund Cultural policy process in Albertslund
Process and film-production
Albertslund kommune / VIA design/ 2008

Process design involving research, film-production and faciliation for some 100 local actors and citizens in the municipality of Albertslund. The the aim was to create an inspiring dialogue about the municipalities first cultural policy. The process itself focused on a range of themes, questions and images aimed at mapping qualities, resources and desires. The process was developed at VIA Design in collaboration with artist Karoline Larsen and professor Dorte Skot Hansen.

One-day workshop for some 100 architects.
The aim was to develop ideas to new ways of organizing architectural competitions. What is the form of a contemporary architecture competition? How do architecture competitions enable both disciplinary and interdisciplinary creativity?
The process was designed by VIA Design using personas as process tool. The results were handed to the AA Competition Secretariat.

Gentofte Kommune / 2005-2007

How would you rearrange your school if you were a head master, teacher, child or parent. Jacob worked as project manager on the two year process of getting the involved parties to agree on that question. The process resulted in interior design of 600m2 pilotproject at Skovgaard School i Gentofte leading to a entirely new organisation of the school.

How much fun can you get for a million DKR? When the subject is new sports facilities it’s not much – or maybe it is. Jacob developed a process at Skaerbaek public school among school managers and teachers, to make a million DKR stretch as far as possible. The project was initiated by Center for Idræt og Arkitektur (CIA)

INDEX / 2005

Jacob was casted as creative professional at the INDEX 2005. Along company directors from LEGO and Samsung and scientists from MIT, Jacob was to bring ideas into physical life on the subject of PLAY. The result was surprisingly unplayful – a camp where kids were forced to play.



Better Urban Space in Trekroner

Roskilde kommune / 2002

Jacob and Kollision developed the process of getting ideas and worries from a large group of architects, designers, landscapers, environmentalists, citizens and politicians into one final agreed project. And it was a success!
The project was curated by UID.



City making

Changing Metropolis
Publication
KIT / VIA / 2008
Christian Pagh edited the book ”Changing Metropolis – introducing artistic and cultural actions in city-making” with Ida Vesterdal. Inspired by the Metropolis Biennale 2007-2017, the book combines artistic, practical and theoretical perspectives on urban planning and city making. The Metropolis Biennale is an international festival for urban life, art and culture initiated by KIT (Copenhagen International Theatre).

Christian Pagh was invited to participate in the advisory group of the development of Søndre Havn (Southern Habour) in Køge, a unique 100.000 m2 development site focusing on culture as driver in the planning. The advisory consisted of researchers, artist and practioneers within the field of planning and culture.

Conceptural masterplan
Arkitema / Port Perm / 2008

Jacob visited Perm Russia and developed a conceptural masterplan for the harbour front. The project was aiming to mark Perm as a new cultural capital in east Russia

Jacob developed 400.000m2 new city centre in Changsha China. The project aimed at making the city scape at street level lively working with density and programming.

Jacob developed a masterplan for a new harbour front and appartment concept in Nykøbing Falster. Today the first two phases is realized.
